Dare To Share 's "Christmas Comes Early Reception" brings 2007 to a successful end.
Dare To Share held its now traditional 'Christmas comes Early' reception for donors, sponsors and recipient charities at the home of the Chair of Dare To Share on December 3, 2007. The event was attended by an enthusiastic crowd of some 60 participants. As always the focus was on the distribution of the funds that were raised during 2007. All charities, except for the Smile Train, were present to receive their checks.
Tiffany Milagro, who has become an accomplished vocal artist, sang a Christmas song instead of her #19 hit on the Hot Singles 100 Bill Board 'There's no City as pretty as Savannah'. The Stiefel Corporation, represented by Mrs. Priti Patel, donated $6,000 for Christmas gifts for all the children helped by the Dream House, the Autism Society of America - Georgia Chapter, the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, Challenged Child & Friends and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson and Barrow Counties. The smile Train had already received a $10,000 donation from Stiefel through Dare To Share.

Francine Boudewijn, Dare To Share's Chair noted:' We are so grateful to all our donors and sponsors for the selfless commitments they make in both time and money to support the kids that need and deserve our help. It is simply amazing what a little organization like ours can accomplish when it receives the support of the community.'
The party brought another successful year to an end. All of us at Dare To Share hope to see many old friends again and we look forward to welcoming many new friends as we start a new year of events for the benefit of the kids.

Sergey Pashkevich wows the crowds with his concert series 'An Evening with Sergey Pashkevich'.
Piano virtuoso Sergey Pashkevich left a lasting impression of his mastery of the classical piano when he visited Brenau University almost one year ago. This year he returned for a series of performances.
His mini-tour started on November 2 with an 'invitation only' recital at the home of Lt. Col. David and Dr. Rita Wardlaw's residence in Gainesville. The concert listeners were treated to a program of works by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Glinka-Balakirev and Scriabin that left them in awe.
He was next welcomed back to Brenau University on November 3. Sergey was excited about his repeat visit and the lineup of local youngsters who started off the evening by showcasing their considerable talents. It was again an extraordinary evening with performances by local residents Katie O'Shea (Vocal), Emily Jackson (Violin), Anna & Kristiina Lugus & Brelin Zimmerman (Dance), Ashlee Lane Fincher (Vocal), Kunal Lahiry (Piano), Tiffany Milagro (Vocal), Courtney Piedrahita (Violin) and Austine Scales (Cello).
Sergey Pashkevich performed an exciting mix of works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov. Vanessa Hyatt, Host of "Taste of Classics" on the eclectic 89.1 FM WBCX said it best when she stated: 'It is a rear opportunity that an artist of the caliber of Sergey Pashkevich can be experienced on the stage here in North Georgia. Such occurrences are usually reserved for the concert halls of Europe.'
Sergey closed his series of performances with a private concert at the Peachtree Club in Atlanta with piano works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninov. Needless to say the listeners were impressed by the mastery and virtuosity of our Russian guest who donated his time so generously to do these concerts for the kids supported by Dare To Share. All concerts were accompanied by silent auctions to benefit the charities.

Dare To Share's Chair Francine Boudewijn expressed it best when she said:' It is fantastic to see the Atlanta community and JEZEBEL magazine support us the way they do. Their generosity makes a difference in the lives of many local kids.'

April 29, 2007. Last Friday night's "Let's Put A Sparkle in Their Eyes" Gala another success story for Dare To Share and the supported charities.
Residents from North Georgia as well as an enthusiastic crowd from the Atlanta area came together at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville to crown the Dare To Share Angel for 2007 and to have fun while raising money for the charities that are in this year's spotlight for Dare To Share.
Ivan Sergei came from Hollywood to crown Ms. Breanna Bryant of Gainesville the first Dare To Share Angel. The very active and civic minded High school senior raised $1270 while creating awareness of Dare To Share and the causes it supports. She will participate in all Dare To Share functions and make appearances on the organization's behalf in local events.
The evening unfolded on an absolutely beautiful night on the shores of Lake Lanier. A cocktail hour preceded an excellent dinner. The silent and live auctions guided expertly by Butch Miller of Gainesville saw some spirited bidding, raising much needed funds for the kids both in the immediate area ( Boys & Girls Clubs, Autism Society, Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, Challenged Child & Friends and The Dream House for Medically Fragile Children) and across the nation for the Smile Train. Two raffles (a diamond cocktail ring and a wine collection) got much attention. The winner of the wine collection donated it back and it was then auctioned off for $3,900! Dancing to the tunes provided by JB JAMS continued well into the night. It was a perfect close to another great event. Dare To Share is grateful for the support it receives from all its patrons and supporters and wishes to thank all volunteers for their efforts and commitment in staging another successful event.
'Christmas Comes Early Reception' a joyful conclusion of 2006 for Dare To Share.

High Tea Events
We have featured Haywood Smith, author of "Queen Bee of Mimosa Branch" and Gwen Hunter, who authored "Betrayal". Author Kathy Hogan Trocheck, also known as Mary Kay Andrews, reviewed her "Itty Bitty Lies" and "Hissy Fit" during this year's Tea.
In 2006 we had a great turnout for Robyn Freedman Spizman who entertained all with her stories and anecdotes behind the how-to books she has written over the years. About 70 ladies came to listen to and be entertained by Robyn with her many stories and anecdotes that led her to write her many how-to books on gift giving and similar topics. She was kind enough to personalize the books that many of the guests bought to remember the lovely High Tea and to use as gifts for their own friends. During the course of the afternoon several items were auctioned off to help increase the funds raised at this small event.
Walk-A-Thon
A walk through Chateau Élan was a welcome low-key event, for the benefit of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and our local charities.
In February of 2006 the 2nd Walk-A-Thon was again held at Chateau Élan. In the pouring rain! It did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants who, together with their sponsors managed to astonish all with the amount of money raised.
Casino Night
Our 2005 first ever Casino Night proved to be very popular and many asked that it be repeated! Buffet dinner and gambling in the "007" style contributed to the ambiance of the evening. Highlight was the raffle of a V-Rod Harley Davidson.
The second Casino Night saw the crowd enjoying an evening 'in the Wild West'. Finger food, drinks and gambling were the order of the evening. We auctioned off several high-end items as well as smaller items for all to enjoy. We consider ourselves fortunate and again we can close out this event as a success.
Signature Gala
Our First Gala benefited the Police Department in Braselton, GA. We hosted a golf tournament, a fashion show, cocktail reception and dinner for a crowd of 210. The Gala raised much more than was needed or expected. Congressman John Linder, State Senator Renee Unterman and Mayor Pat Graham of Braselton attended the Gala as special guests.
The Second Gala, principally to benefit the Highland House, a shelter for kids who are the unintended victims of domestic abuse, was a momentous success. A full day of activities raised an astounding amount! Significant money raisers were the auctions (silent and live) and the raffle of a locally built PANOZ Esperante sports car. Special guests were State Senators Balfour and Unterman, as well as Patrick Dempsey and Ivan Sergei, stars of film and TV, who came to lend their support. Mrs. Mary Perdue, Georgia's First Lady, officially opened the Highland House, which received major start up funds from Dare To Share in 2003. The remaining funds went to local charities in Gwinnett, Barrow and Hall Counties.
The Third Gala beat all expectations! Our event comprised of the now famous components of golf, fashion show and gourmet dinner. A silent and live auction got everyone's attention while the raffle of the PANOZ Esperante sports car, donated by Alcoa Aluminum of Pennsylvania proved to be the showstopper. A check was presented to the Smile Train, an international organization that focuses on programs that help children with cleft palates and lips through the training of surgeons and providing the tools and supplies. We helped give a smile back to 540 kids. As always the remaining funds went to local charities that help medically and physically challenged kids. The Boys & Girls Club received support from us as well.
2005 was a special challenge. The Tsunami and Katrina relief efforts had already proven how generous people could be. Our Gala was held shortly thereafter and we found out how truly magnificent people are.
The Greater Atlanta community and a host of celebrities came together at the Dare to Share Black & White Gala at the Chateau Élan Resort in Braselton, Georgia. The event was a sell out and achieved its goal of raising funds for local children's causes as well as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In addition the crowd donated $3,850 for The Salvation Army's Katrina Relief Fund in an impromptu collection.
The event was attended by many celebrities from radio, television and the sports world. They included: Dennis Scott (NBA-Lakers- ret.), DeAngelo Hall (NFL-Atlanta Falcons), Michael Jenkins (NFL-Atlanta Falcons), Bryan Scott (NFL-Atlanta Falcons), Phil Niekro-Baseball Hall of Fame, Jose Portilla (NFL-Atlanta Falcons-ret.), Ivan Sergei-Film/TV, Patrick Dempsey-Film/TV, Tanisha Brito- Miss Georgia 2005, Dallas McCade and Rhubarb Jones of Eagle 106.7FM in Atlanta. JEZEBEL, the upscale Atlanta living magazine and Dare to Share sponsor, provided event publicity.
Next to the fabulous fashion show staged by EventAcuity, the highlight of the evening was the raffle of the Panoz Esperante sports car. The winning ticket #367 unfortunately was not present, but was contacted while the event was in progress.
Everybody agreed that this was the charity event highlight of the year and all are hoping that next year will be even more spectacular.
Francine Boudewijn (Chair and Founder of Dare to Share) expressed the Board and her own gratitude to all those who helped, donated, and participated when she said: 'We are so proud to be able to work for the kids, they deserve our help and our communities have again lived up to their reputation of generosity and kindness. I thank all for their contribution'.
Local Charity Fund Distribution
Dec. '05 - The 2005 distribution of funds from the Walk-A-Thon, High Tea, Casino Night and the Signature Gala took place in late November, with representatives of all recipient charities present.
